The master thesis presents the technology of plasma cutting and the procedure of creating a plasma cut on the selected material. Also, installation of the system for automatic regulation of the burner height was introduced. The thesis was divided in five main chapters which show all important features of the automatic burner height control in the plasma cutting process. The first chapter covers the creation of the plasma arc as well as the plasma cutting process, along with fundamental features that affect the process. The second chapter lists the shielding and plasma cutting gases we use in the plasma cutting process and the guidelines for choosing plasma cutting gas. The third chapter shows different types of plasma cutting process, and it allows us to choose the best cutting system which fits our demands at the specific moment. Chapter 4 describes the plasma cutting system along with its parameters that were used in the experimental part of the thesis. As a working material which was processed by the cutting system introduced in this chapter, we used „General structural steel S235JR. Besides mechanical parts, the underlying software for system control and plasma cut was presented as well as the final product created with the system. The fifth chapter deals with the analysis of the curriculum for the education of CNC operators and the preparation for teaching classes in the 'Material Processing' complex.
